Which Type Of Rail Bonds Should I Use?

The choice of rail bond to use depends on several parameters, and this is why Dubuis has designed different types of rail bonds The rail bonds are distinguished by drilling diameter, length and diameter of the threaded rod, collar material, and presence of the anti-friction washer.

All of these parameters are basically dependent on the dimensions of the cable, terminal lug and rail.

It is therefore essential to have full knowledge of this information in order to determine the type of rail bond to use so as to provide a perfect connection that matches the rail, the operator environment and the electrical characteristics.

The electrical specifications of the network and the frequency of traffic make it possible to determine the number of cables and the cable cross-section.

All of these aspects influence the choice of material.

All of the other dimensional elements of the rail bond are derived from the cable characteristics except for the length of the collar which depends on the rail specification. The sketch entitled “the parameters for determining the rail bond” cannot always be complied with when certain elements already exist such as the drilling diameter and the dimensions of the terminal lug.
